Hope you were able to make it to the Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo this weekend, it was great fun as usual. My favorite part is always watching the girls race by on horseback holding American flags. Then there's the mutton busting, where kids ride sheep like they are wild bulls-hilarious! This year there was also an adorable little boy who sang the national anthem. He did great and took his job very seriously, stopping to clear his throat half way through to make sure he was able to finish in perfect harmony!
What a great event.  If you have never been, check it out next year, it's great family fun.

A couple weeks ago, I spent a Saturday afternoon at the San Benito County Historical Society Museum searching for vintage photographs from our area that we will have on display at The Market.

If you have never been to The Historical Society museum, I highly suggest you visit sometime. It would be a great summer field trip for the kids. The array of artifacts and vast collection of photographs is truly impressive.

As I looked at old photos of residents, the area and downtown, I was surprised to find out how exciting downtown used to be.  Downtown was thriving with people, business and entertainment. Did you know, for example that Veterans Memorial Building was once used as a roller skating rink?  How fun!

The Market is thrilled to be a part of Downtown Hollister and we hope our citizens will come out to support us and all the great local downtown business to help make downtown the thriving place it once was.
